About Us

We were first introduced to Arran in the late 1990s by family friends. Our children were young then and we all fell in love with the island immediately. What’s not to like, as they say! About 5 years after that first visit, we were lucky enough to have the opportunity to buy somewhere and several years later we were successful. We thoroughly enjoyed the renovation process and had a wonderful local team doing the work for us. We were very keen to keep as much as we could from the original cottage at the same time as adding some mod cons to make it a home from home for us and our visitors. We wanted to try to keep our carbon footprint as low as possible in an old property, so we’ve installed an air source heat pump for our hot water and under floor heating. We also have 2 bathrooms with sun pipes. We furnished it with some of our own family furniture and as many pieces from Arran as we could. We’ve also decorated it with paintings by local artists. We were lucky that the garden had been beautifully designed and planted by the daughter of the previous owner too.

We’ve enjoyed many family gatherings at the cottage including 18th, 21st, 50th, 60th and 80th birthdays. The cottage has also hosted wedding parties, anniversaries and various other celebrations for our visitors.
